The kids’ parties I throw are always VERY casual, especially if they are at my house. But sometimes, kids like to dress up and pretend they are adults.
So I threw a fancy “dinner” party for the kids and a few of their friends! Everything I did was really, really easy. You will barely have to go shopping to get everything you need.
Table Settings
I used some Ikea dinnerware that we already own, which brought a lot of kid-friendly colour to the table.
For place cards, I rolled some Play-Doh into little balls and stuck a little piece of cardstock in the top. These could not have been easier, but they looked really cute!
Food
We had our “dinner” party at lunch time so that I could take photos while the sun was still out. I hate to cook and bake, so the food was VERY simple.
I used a star-shaped cookie cutter to make Fancy Sandwiches (peanut butter, chicken, or cheese). I bought a fruit tray and a veggie tray, and tossed some chips in bowls. BAM, dinner party.
To add to the fancy atmosphere of the party, I got the kids some tiny plastic champagne flutes for their grape juice. They all LOVED these cups.
I added some colourful straws to make them easier to drink out of, but we still had some spills.
Luckily, I had some OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover to test out. Once I told the kids about this, they all decided to help out by creating as many stains as possible.
They got fairly creative with this. and drew a few pictures.
Once the entire tablecloth was purple, we cleared it off to test out the OxiClean. Here’s what happened.
No wonder they wanted a video! This stuff works like MAGIC. It even works on blueberry juice!
Video highlights:
1) 0:33 – All the things you can clean with this stuff.
2) 0:45 – Poo Cherry!
3) 1:00 – How to use the OxiClean powder.
4) 1:44 – MAGIC.
5) 2:30 – I describe how filthy my house is.
Dessert
After we took care of that mess, it was time for dessert. I am terrible at baking, so we had a sundae bar. We had two kinds of ice cream, waffle bowls, chocolate and butterscotch sauce, and several kinds of sprinkles.
Needless to say, the kids LOVED making their own sundaes.
Some of them had a 50-50 sprinkles-to-ice-cream ratio. Crunchy!
Activities
After they were sugared up, we made fancy sparkly crafts. I gave the kids some cardstock and glue, and supplied them with plastic gems, sequins, and sparkly paper. I gave them no direction because I was tired by this point. They still had a blast!
Photobooth
Because this party was Very Fancy, I asked the kids to dress up. They all looked really cute, so I’m glad I had a photobooth set up!
This is the EASIEST photo backdrop EVER. I crumpled up a bunch of foil and taped it to the wall. In real life, it looked like foil taped to the wall. In photos, it looks sparkly and fancy! Right?
This party was incredibly easy to throw together, and the kids had a ball. Also, they all ate a lot! Usually, I have trouble getting my kids to sit down and eat for five minutes, but the extra fun of this meal had them glued to the table!
Full disclosure: I was compensated for this post and sent a sample of the OxiClean stain remover to try out. I am honestly really excited that it worked so well, because just THINKING about scrubbing my gross couch is exhausting. Now I can clean like a Lady / lazy person!
