Disclosure: This post about Absolut’s celebration of Canada 150 is sponsored. As always, all opinions are my own.
I am loving seeing all the different ways people and businesses are celebrating Canada 150. I have friends traveling Canada from one coast to the other, all kinds of products are getting a red and white paint job and classic Canadiana is getting a new place in the spotlight.
Absolut decided to celebrate Canada 150 with a cool bottle designed by Canadian artist Libs Elliott. Libs is a textile artist bringing together cutting edge technology with quilting, a heritage craft. She uses technology to create custom geometric designs. She then manipulates them further to create a one of a kind quilt design. The end result is a quilt with one of kind fabrics, colors and design.
Libs was a great choice because her quilts are a metaphor for Canada. People coming together from different cultures and backgrounds into a beautiful and unique quilt. Cool, right? I love that about Canada. We all come together but there’s none of this melting pot stuff. Nope. We all get to keep what makes us unique. So it becomes a quilt full of color and design instead of a big blob.
Plus….the Absolut vodka inside is the same quality product that you know and love. It’s even the spirit in one of Canada’s favourite cocktails….the Caesar. Did you know it was invented right here in Calgary? It was and it is delicious! I wasn’t sure what the hype was about for a while but now it is my favourite cocktail. If you haven’t tried it, you should….in fact, I even have a Caesar recipe for you!
Not a fan of the Caesar? Thankfully, vodka is the base for many great recipes like these:
Want your own piece of Canadiana? The Libs Elliott designed Absolut Canada Vodka bottles hit major retailers in May. Pick yours up soon, though, as they are a limited edition so supplies are limited. It would also make the perfect host or hostess gift for all the summer bbqs you will attend this summer.
