xszdBabies!! We want to buy them ALL THE THINGS. But what do they really need? I know their secrets (or at least their parents’ secrets), and I have ideas! If you are searching for a gift for a brand-new baby, look no further! Here are the best baby shower gifts.

1) Rattles
Babies love toys that make noise! Check out this cute Plush Drumstick Rattle. It comes packaged like a real drumstick from the deli, you guys. It’s also really well made and adorable.
Or maybe this orange monster rattle with extra ribbon tags for even more sensory fun!
2) Art Prints
Most babies’ nurseries could use a little decoration. This Origami Dragon Print is perfect for any room and will stay relevant as they grow. If you’re not into the dragon, there are also an origami crane and a fox!
Or maybe this super cute alphabet poster. The animal illustrations are adorable!
3) Adorable Hats
Babies look adorable in hats – it’s a scientific fact. Cute and fun hats like this Baby Viking Hat are adorable and people LOVE them. I guarantee parents will get complements every time they go out with their kids. They are insanely cute.
Or maybe a fluffy bear hat…
Or a fun red monster hat….any or all…they make a great baby shower gift!
4) Clothes
Most babies have plenty of clothes, BUT there are some really special outfits made by independent sellers on Etsy. For instance, could your baby be more awesome that it would be in this R2D2 Onesie and Hat?
5) Mobiles
Babies spend much of their early lives on their backs, staring at the ceiling. Why not put something up there for them to look at? I am in love with this soft and colourful Space Mobile!
While this Star Wars Mobile is not in everyone’s price range…look at the detail! It is amazing!
Or for an extra special gift, buy this DIY Hot Air Balloon Mobile Kit and make it for the special baby on the way!
6) Fun Items to Share Baby’s Growth
I love this milestones blanket! It is such a cute way to share baby’s growth in pictures.
7. Personalized Decor
Definitely check with mom first for color and font preference but any parent will LOVE these gorgeous script names for their nursery wall!
8, 9, 10, 11) Books!
You can’t start too early with books. They are vital for language-learning, even in newborns! Here are some of my very favourite board books.
This book has incredible illustrations, lyrical text, and a sweet story about a baby polar bear having a night-time adventure.
The text speaks to the joy that babies bring to their parents. The illustrations are gorgeous. The author is local. Buy it!
This is a series. Each page has a big sturdy flap that babies lift to see who is hiding. Eg: four kittens behind the chair! The best part is that the last flap always hides a mirror for the baby to look into. Babies LOVE this.
Sandra Boynton books are my absolute favourite baby gift. Their lyrical, rhyming cadence makes them a favourite with babies and older kids combined. Plus, parents learn them like a song so they can read them even when they are sleep deprived. Win/Win!
12) Diapers
Diapers are something that all parents need LOADS of. You can even buy them online and have them delivered in a few months when it will be an unexpected surprise (just make sure to suss out what size they need).

I just had my son this July, and I was so grateful for all the goodies I got at my shower. I am set on clothing for an entire year! As for baby, his favorite gift was absolutely his mobile. He simply adores that thing!

These are fantastic ideas, especially for 2nd time moms who may still have a lot of the essentials! I love the origami prints.
