Kids + Planes = True Love 4 Ever. That’s why parties at the Aero Space Museum of Calgary rock.
AGES
My kids are 1 and 3, and they both loved the Museum. The older your kids are, the more they will get out of the experience – there are some videos and interactive displays that they will love.
Young children will need closer supervision, as there are several artefacts that should not be touched.
COST
$95 for up to 15 guests.
WHAT YOU GET
Admission to the Museum and use of the Lancaster Room for two hours. This room has tables and chairs, and you will get access to a fridge and prep counter for food.
Optional: the Aero Space Museum Gift Shop can provide loot bags. I recommend this, as the Gift Shop had a LOT of awesome stuff.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS MUSEUM!
Okay, you don’t have to yell! I really loved this place. There are two levels in the main building – the bottom level has most of the aircraft, exhibits and scale models. Upstairs, you will find propellers and nose art.
There is also a giant tent-ish building outside. Do NOT miss it – it houses the truly enormous aircraft, and my favourite nose art (the Lady Orchid features a lady wearing very strategically placed maple leaves).
I was there with two toddlers, so I did not have the opportunity to read ANY signs. I have zero technical information, but here’s what I know:
- The planes are cool.
- You can climb up steps and look inside a bunch of the planes.
- There is a little helicopter ride – BRING LOONIES.
- There are some hilarious photo ops.
- There is some non-plane stuff from the Canadian Space Agency and the Western Canadian Robotics Society. Older kids will love these parts, too.
SHOULD YOU BOOK IT?
I will totally book a party at the Aero Space Museum of Calgary. My kids loved it, and there were lots of great photo ops. It’s a fantastic museum with lots of opportunities for interaction. Highly recommended!
