Canadian Halloween Rookie Mistake

Where I grew up, Halloween was the first part of Fall. The weather was usually cool but not cold. Unfortunately, the picture to the left is our street this week. It’s a little bit colder than “cool”. You may remember my earlier post about our costume shopping woes.

Well, we bought a costume but there were quite a few things I didn’t think about:

  1. I didn’t make sure it would fit over a snow suit.
  2. I didn’t make sure that it would be easy for Evan to get out of to go pee.
  3. I didn’t make sure it was worth the $30 I paid for it. The watch (which is Evan’s favorite part) was broken when we got it home & the actual costume is made out of the cheapest, flimsiest crap I have ever seen. If it makes it home from school tomorrow, I will be amazed.

So, like the Canadian rookie I am (ish), I will be heading to Wal-Mart tomorrow to either find a costume that will work or a couple of cheap sheets to make a ghost costume.

Oy!

Okay…please tell me that I’m not the only one who has done this. What is your go to last minute costume for emergency situations?

One of mine isn't going to wear his costume to school because he has trouble getting it over his head and I think he'd panic if he wanted it off and couldn't do it. I feel bad for him so might suggest one of the past costumes tomorrow morning before school. My other son will probably destroy his or stain it up from lunch so will look wonderful tomorrow night lol I also don't think this one will be able to go over warm clothing very well...sigh. I feel your pain, I just hope all this means less candy! ;) The switch witch is coming to take half the candy, but it's still so much. Hope Evan has a great time.

Oh Merry! I am so sorry! Tip from a born and bred Calgarian - Have your SO follow you in the car and have hot chocolate in a thermos so Evan can warm up every 5 houses or so. Hope you have some luck at Walmart. <3
