Decadent and Delicious Chocolate Cobbler Recipe

Nothing is quite as Southern as serving cobbler for dessert. You know I love me some Southern Peach Cobbler or Snickerdoodle Apple Cobbler but what if you are craving something chocolate? Then you make this easy and delicious Chocolate Cobbler! It’s basically an easy way to make a molten lava cake.

Like my Peach Cobbler, the making of my chocolate cobbler may seem a bit unorthodox. Never fear, just follow the instructions and it will turn out just fine. I promise!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cup granulated sugar, divided
  • ¼ cup plus 1 ½ tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups boiling water

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt ½ cup butter in an 8×8 baking pan in the oven.

Mix ¾ cup of sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, egg, milk, 1 ½ tablespoon cocoa powder, and vanilla in a medium bowl.

Pour batter over melted butter in pan. Do not stir.

Pour over butter in baking pan. Do not stir!

Mix one cup of sugar and ¼ cup cocoa powder in a small bowl.

Pour this over the top of the batter and butter in your baking dish.

Pour the boiling water over the top of that. Do not stir!

Bake in a 350-degree oven for 30-35 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
