What Is The Difference Between A Cobbler And A Pie?

It’s an age-old question – and it’s common for people to mix up the two. The answer is simple: pies have a crust on the bottom (and sometimes on the top) while cobblers are a dessert whose dough is incorporated within the fruit filling. Usually I only call it a cobbler if the topping is biscuit-y. Want to try a traditional Southern Peach Cobbler? Do I have a recipe for you! My Southern Peach Cobbler is legendary!

Next, add the juice from the canned peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and all spice. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly.

Stir for 8-10 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.

Depending on if you want soft peaches or firmer peaches will determine when you add the peaches to the syrup: for softer peaches, cook the peaches while the syrup thickens. For firmer peaches, only add them when the sauce had thickened and coats the back of the spoon.

Set the sauce aside and let it cool slightly.
