These gingerbread donuts are full of holiday flavor! If you love the taste of gingerbread cookies but also appreciate a good, fluffy baked donut – then this recipe is definitely for you!
When it comes to holiday baking, I never shy away from anything gingerbread. Growing up, building gingerbread houses was a huge part of the Christmas season. Now, I love to bake up gingerbread-flavored desserts for my family. Lucky for you, I am sharing my gingerbread baked donuts today!
What is Gingerbread Anyway?
Gingerbread is a type of cake that is made with molasses and ginger. It is often decorated with icing and candy canes, and is a popular Christmas dessert.
What Ingredients Do I Need To Make Gingerbread Donuts?
Be sure to gather the following ingredients before whipping-up this mouthwatering gingerbread donuts recipe:
- Cooking spray
- All-purpose flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Ground cinnamon
- Ground ginger
- Salt
- Brown sugar
- Eggs
- Molasses
- Milk
- Vegetable oil
- Granulated sugar
- Butter
Can I Fry These Gingerbread Donuts?
These donuts are not yeast-based and thus, have a heavier cake-like consistency to them. For the sake of this recipe, please stick to baking them, which is why a specific donut pan is necessary. Because the donut batter resembles more of a cake batter (more loose), it doesn’t hold its own shape – so deep frying wouldn’t be a possibility. Not up to baking today? Maybe try these Air Fryer Biscuit Donuts.
How Can I Serve These Gingerbread Baked Donuts?
When whipping-up these baked donuts, you have two options on how you can serve them: with a cinnamon sugar coating or plain. I think both ways taste absolutely amazing!

My gingerbread donuts are amazing on their own but also taste amazing with:
- Home-brewed coffee
- Cappuccino
- Herbal tea
- Tall glass of milk
- Egg nog
You could also top them with a cream cheese icing or a quick sugar glaze.
