Great Reads in the Mail with Sweet Reads Box!

Disclosure: I received the July Sweet Reads Box in exchange for this blog post about great reads and a giveaway. As always all opinions are my own.

Reading was my favourite hobby for a large part of my life. I can remember sitting in the bottom of my childhood closet on a pile of toys while reading a book by flashlight. Great reads were the high point of my childhood. Characters between the pages of a book were my closest friends.

As I got older, my friends with kids told me that their love of reading had waned over the years. They still wanted to read but it was just too hard to find the time. I told myself (as those who don’t have kids yet are wont to do) that I would NEVER give up my beloved reading. Nope. “You just have to make time for it”, I told myself.

I laugh at that version of me. I had no idea.

Now that Evan is older and I have more time, I am trying to make more of an effort to get back into reading. I will probably never read 5 or more books a week (yep, I did that consistently for years) but I will actually READ. So far this summer, in fact, I have read 4 books. Wow, I thought it was way more than that but here we are.

Pachinko the Sweet Reads Box book for July

One thing that makes it easier to remember to read is to have great reads APPEAR in my mailbox by way of The Sweet Reads Box. You might remember that I introduced you to this great Canadian subscription box last month. I love it because they do all the work finding a new, usually award winning, read plus a selection of curated items that fit into the theme for the book. How cool is that? Here is a video unboxing of the July Sweet Reads Box….

Evan loves it too because he got to claim the candy sushi for himself. I don’t always share but today I was feeling generous. Don’t you love the little tea fishermen? So cute!

Nothing says “me time” like reading a book with a hot cup of tea and a face mask. Am I right? And me time is so important for those of us who burn the candle at both ends. Unfortunately, it is so easy to forget to take that time for US.

Receiving The Sweet Reads Box is like a tap on the shoulder saying “Hey…you look tired, have you taken a break lately?” It’s that little push we need when we are busy.

I struggle to take the time to read as well, but it's so worth it when I do! I just finished reading Cat & Mouse by James Patterson.

I honestly adored Carnegie's Maid - it was written by the same author as the Other Einstein (which was about Albert Einstein's wife) and the author has a gift for pulling people out of the fringes of history and making them the centre of their own story.
