Healthy Living: Small Steps with Big Results!

Healthy Living: Small Steps with Big Results!

As you know, I am not making any healthy living resolutions for 2016. It has been proving that when I do make resolutions, I am way less likely to actually DO the things I resolve to do. Yep. Instead, I am going to make small changes that make me feel better. Maybe it seems to be a bit of a to-may-toe vs to-mah-toe conversation but I have found that it really does make a big difference.

So this year, let’s focus on small steps that can easily be incorporated into your everyday routine. Here are a few easy examples of small things that can make a big difference.

  • Take the stairs and park further away: Let’s face it, a resolution of “I’m going to the gym EVERY DAY!” is unlikely to stick. Instead, stop waiting for the elevator for a two floor trip. Instead, hit the stairs. Or when you are going to the mall, instead of driving around and around looking for a close parking spot, just park and walk. By adding a little more movement into your day, you help your health and your energy.

  • Take your vitamins: Taking your daily vitamins helps ensure you get the nutrients you need to maintain a healthy active lifestyle. However, men and women have varying nutritional needs so multivitamins such as Vitafusion™ Men’s & Women’s Complete Multivitamins offer a personalized option to help you feel great and support optimal health. Plus they are gummies so taking them isn’t SUCH a chore.
  • Get your giggle on: Laughter really is the best medicine, not to mention it’s both fun and free. Research shows that humour and laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts your energy, diminishes pain and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. So book that night out with your girlfriends and get your laugh on!
  • Protect your skin: Use sunscreen every day to protect yourself against the sun’s harmful rays (UVA & UVB). And yes, even wear it on days when it’s overcast. My moisturizer has a built in sunscreen which makes it easy to include in my daily routine.
  • Make time for yourself: Make yourself a cup of tea, read a good buck, have a bath…whatever fills up your cup and makes you feel more settled and content in your life.

  • Find exercise that is fun: Snowshoeing is great exercise and fun. Another favorite of mine is going on a walk with friends and our dogs. It makes exercise seem like a fun outing instead of a chore.

How do you focus on your health?

Disclosure: I am a Church & Dwight Ambassador. Throughout the year I will be receiving products to review, blog post prompts and other perks so I can share my thoughts with you. As always, all opinions are my own.

I love them. Someone told me that they have them at Costco right now. I need to go have a look and see if they have ones in Evan's size.

I focus on my health in different ways. I went to a Natropath last year and got a lot of vitamins that made me feel better (Evening Primrose Oil). Hot yoga was a new year's goal 3 years ago and that has paid out in spades. This year I'm focusing on throwing away food. Sounds weird, but I heard your ability to throw it away is linked to losing weight. I'm always finishing off desserts nobody wants so they don't go to wasted, but it's being wasted on my butt!

Ha! There is nothing wasted on your butt. You look fabulous.
