Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

Treat your loved ones to a fun and delicious treat this Valentine’s Day! My heart-shaped chocolate chip cookies are adorable, chewy, and filled with chocolate-y goodness.

Welcome back to Merry About Town! My name is Merry and I love sharing fuss-free, family-friendly recipes. Today, I’m all about Valentine’s Day, and I’m thrilled to share my recipe for Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies with you!

What Are Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies?

These super cute treats are essentially cookie bars that have been cut into hearts using a cookie cutter. Because they bake as cookie bars, they’re thicker and softer than your traditional chocolate chip cookie.

What Ingredients Do I Need to Make These Valentine Cookies?

To whip-up these cookies, you will need the follow ingredients:

  • All-purpose flour (not self-rising!)
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Eggs
  • Chocolate chips

What size cookie cutter did you use?

I used a heart-shaped cookie cutter that was about 3 inches at its widest point.

Be Sure To Cool Before Cutting

As mentioned in the recipe card below, it’s vital that you allow the cookies to cool down completely before cutting them into hearts. This way, they’ll keep their shape.

Are There Any Ingredient Alternatives to Make these Heart-Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies?

When cooking you can often switch out things with no issues whatsoever. Unfortunately, baking is not the same! Please stick to the recipe as closely as possible so that you have a steady base/texture to work with. Even changing the measurements for either sugars could make such a difference (ie.: More brown sugar will make the cookies even more gooey!).

However, when it comes to the chocolate chips, feel free to change it up! You can use white chocolate chips, caramel chips, or even add nuts to make the flavor of these Valentine cookies your very own.
