Life On the Road Week 10 – Pensacola, FL

Disclosure: A big shout out to Always Online Wireless for keeping me connected during our Life On the Road Week 10. Without their data services, I would be dead in the water. As always, all opinions are my own.

The only thing on this trip that was set in stone was going to Pensacola Beach, FL. Last year, my cousin April, who lives in Pensacola Beach, decided to host Thanksgiving for our extended family (my mom and her mom are sisters). When we left on this trip, I knew that I had to make it to Pensacola by Thanksgiving no matter what. We haven’t been able to make a family Thanksgiving in forever. This year was special too because my uncle and his family were coming too. We haven’t seen them since before Evan was born. Dewey flew down and joined us for the festivities as well.

The Fam at Thanksgiving

April and I are only 4 months apart so we spent tons of time together growing up.  It was great to get together to catch up, eat lots and play board games. Plus her daughter is only a few months younger than Evan. He doesn’t usually get to spend a lot of time around his cousins so he was in heaven.

Evan and his cousin hunting for shells

After the family went home, Dewey, Evan and I stayed in a rental house next door to my cousin. It was HUGE and such a great reprieve from the squishiness of Daisy (our trailer). Being steps from the beach was amazing. One day I will live at the beach. There is something about walking on the beach, collecting shells and listening to the waves crash that makes me happy.

Through the week we hung out with my cousin’s family (April and her hubby Brian are super cool and fun to hang out with…and I’m not just saying that because she might read this) and checked out the local sights. Dewey also took Evan to fish off the Pensacola Beach pier. He even caught his first fish! Unfortunately, it wasn’t big enough to keep. He had a blast even though he was more about telling Dewey what to do and goofing around than actually fishing.

Pensacola Beach Christmas Parade

On Thursday, Dewey headed back to Calgary and Evan and I hung out for a few more days. I mean…we couldn’t leave before the Pensacola Beach Christmas Parade and the school Christmas concert! Overall, it was a great week and I can’t wait to visit again. I may have even sent Dewey a few MLS listings for houses on the beach. A girl can dream, right?

Stay tuned for a more in depth post about what we did in Pensacola. We have been without internet for the last week or so. Until then….
