There are several new attractions coming to Disney parks in 2019, which makes it an even more exciting time to plan a magical adventure. Let’s look at what’s new at Disney World. As you can see, there’s something for almost everyone.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Galaxy’s Edge is the highly-anticipated Star Wars-themed attraction coming to Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios. These new “lands” allow guests to explore a spaceport on the edge of wild space and a whole lot more.
It’s the place where Star Wars fans meet up with some of their favorite characters including Chewbacca and BB-8. When hunger strikes, there’s a wide range of Star Wars-themed food and treats available in the cantina. Gift shops are also part of the plan, making it easy to score Star Wars merchandise and memorabilia.
Two major attractions are located within Galaxy’s Edge. The first allows guests to see what it’s like to stand in the hangar bay of a First Order Star Destroyer in the midst of a battle between the first order and the Resistance.
The second is an interactive experience, allowing Star Wars fans to control aspects of the Millennium Falcon including piloting the ship from the cockpit and manning the blaster turrets.
Depending on how well guests perform during the secret mission, they’ll be able to earn extra credits which can be used at the Cantina or maybe even to attract the attention of a bounty hunter.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is the first ride-through attraction to feature both of these well-loved characters. It promises an exciting and unbelievable experience where riders experience the unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse short cartoon.
The attraction features an all-new theme song, created specifically for Runaway Railway. It also includes new eye-popping 3D effects riders will no doubt enjoy without the aid of 3D glasses.
The team who created this ride worked closely with the Disney television animation department to ensure the plot and animations fit in perfectly with the Mickey Mouse cartoons still seen on TV today.
Disney’s Skyliner
The Skyliner is a brand new way for guests to travel around (or rather above) Disney parks. These gondola style lifts connect four Disney resorts, including the all new Disney Riviera Resort, to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The gondola cars feature pictures of Disney characters on the outside of each window, making it seem like these characters are actually riding along in the car.
From inside, passengers have a stunning view of the Magic Kingdom from above as they make their way to the parks from each resort.
Star Wars Resort
If you can’t wait for Galaxy’s Edge, I have more great news… the Stars Wars Resort. This one-of-a kind accommodation option connects to the attraction located at Hollywood Studios.
Staying at the resort is honestly the next best thing to actually orbiting the galaxy. Checking in is similar to boarding a spaceship. You have the option of dressing up in proper Star Wars attire as well. Once in your room, forget palm trees and Florida sunshine! Each window features a view into space. May the force be with you!
These are four things that will be new at Disney World in 2019. If you’re thinking about a future Disney vacation, you still have plenty of time to plan. Things just keep getting more exciting all the time! Which are you looking forward to most?

As a huge Star Wars fan I'm so excited for Galaxy's Edge! Not sure how I feel about the gondolas since heights are my favorite thing.
