Disney is a big thing in our house. When a Disney movie releases, we go see it at the theatre. When we discuss vacations, Disney is always on the list. So when we heard that Disney on Ice was coming to town, we had to go. Evan is 9 so I wasn’t sure how many more years he would think Disney on Ice was cool So tickets in hand, off we went to see the show.
The 2 hour show was broken into 4 parts. First up was Toy Story 3. We loved seeing all of our favorite toys including Woody, Buzz, Slinky Dog, Hamm and Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. I truly do NOT know how the characters can skate so well especially Hamm! Of course I am not a skater at all so it all seems terribly hard to me.
Next was a shorter segment from MY FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE OF ALL TIME, The Little Mermaid. After I got over the fact that she actually had LEGS, it was awesome. I got to sing along to all the songs. I also realized that Evan has never actually seen the movie. We will be remedying that in short order.
After a brief intermission was a short Cars segment. Dewey said this was his favorite part. Lots of cars racing around on ice. I can totally see it. As always, Mater was my favorite with Lightning McQueen as Evan’s.
Last but not least was Frozen with Anna and Elsa. Definitely the highlight of the show, it was a crowd favorite too. I loved watching all the little girls belting out let it go along with the show. Oh and Olaf was there too. You can’t have Frozen with Olaf!
Overall we had a great time. Our only negative was that Evan was lured by all the flashy toys and begged and begged for one. We know he wouldn’t play with it and they were quite expensive so we said no. If this is something your kids might do…come prepared to either buy one or to say no roughly one billion times.
Disclosure: We received tickets to the show in order to share our experience with you! As always, all opinion are my own.
