No-Bake Millionaire Pie – Perfect for a Potluck!

Disclosure: This recipe for No-Bake Millionaire Pie has been sponsored by Popeye’s Canada. They have opened 2 new Calgary locations to bring a bit more of the South to Calgary. As always, all opinions are my own!

Growing up in Alabama, church socials a HUGE part of our lives. Our church often had lunch potlucks after services on Sundays. It was the time for everyone to make their best recipes for everyone to try. As a kid, I loved these lunches. The food was delicious and there was always a huge dessert table full of all my favourite treats. My Granny always made the best dishes (in my biased opinion). One of her favourite potluck desserts was this No-Bake Millionaire Pie.

Since church potlucks are often lunch time affairs, recipes that can be made ahead or quickly are your best bets. This deliciously creamy pie stirs together in minutes and is best served after chilling overnight. So easy peasy to pull out of the refrigerator before heading out the door in the morning. It also makes two pies so it’s great for a crowd.

The other dish my Granny always took for potlucks was fried chicken. She had a secret, though, she wasn’t the one who fried it. My Grandaddy did. I can remember him in his church clothes with his sleeves rolled up, frying chicken in a cast iron skillet. I regret never learning her recipe for fried chicken. I’m sure there weren’t measurements and it would have included the words “until it looks right”.

These days, most people don’t take the time (or know how) to make great fried chicken at home. Thankfully, I’ve figured out that Popeye’s makes yummy fried chicken that I love. No need for me to buy a whole chicken (because that is how the best chicken starts don’t ya know), cut it up and fry it all without burning my house down. Instead, we just head out to grab chicken and biscuits whenever we want to. Plus, it’s even easier these days since Popeye’s has opened two new stores in Calgary!

So next time you are invited to a potluck but are running low on time? Pick up a Popeye’s Family Meal and make two Millionaire pies. Easy, inexpensive and your friends will LOVE it! And that is a win for everyone!
