Spy Birthday Party & The SECRET to a Great-Looking Kids' Party

For a recent birthday, I picked a secret agent / spy theme, because I thought it would be cute. Turns out, I was RIGHT.

Agent Initiation

At the “Orientation” table, the kids all got:

Code Names: they picked a first name out of one jar, and a last name out of another, with results like Violet Butterfly and Doctor Danger.

ID badges: we fingerprinted the kids with washable ink and wrote down their code names. The badge holders came from Staples.

Disguises: included sunglasses, stick-on moustaches, and moustaches on sticks.

Search for the Crown Jewels

This was a treasure hunt that I prepared earlier. I wrote down clues that lead the kids around the house.

Eventually, they found the “crown jewels” – treat bags full of ring pops and candy necklaces. I had six clues in the hunt, but it could have been twice as long. The kids loved it!

Spy Pass-the-Parcel

For this game, you wrap a candy in some wrapping paper, add another candy on top and another layer of paper, and repeat. Then you give the resulting package to the kids, who pass it around while music plays. When the music stops, they open a layer and get the treat inside. We used James Bond music, of course.

Laser Yarn Maze

I got the idea for this awesome game from Willowday. I thought the kids would go through once or twice and be done, but this thing was a HUGE hit. They did it over and over for an HOUR. That’s insane!

I set up the laser maze on the left. The kids took it down eventually and created the maze on the right. I clearly made it way too easy.

Spy Party Favours

I really sugared the kids up during the party, so in lieu of loot bags, each of the guests went home with an I Spy book wrapped in plain brown paper. The labels say “Top Secret: This loot bag is for ___’s eyes only.”

The $15 I paid was totally worth it. The package included printable food labels, disguises, tags for loot bags, a banner template, and lots more. Check out the “Truth Serum” labels for drinks!

The printables made it LOOK like I had put in tons of work, but all I did was print stuff and cut it out! Also, my talented sister made adorable moustache and spy-themed cookies.
