Earlier this year, Calgary and the Starbelly family went through a tragic time with the loss of their chef Jonathon Sobol in a tragic accident. Recently, Starbelly hosted a dinner celebrate Chef Sobol’s life as well as welcome a new chef to their ranks.

Paul McGreevy is the new head chef at Starbelly. With a passion for using local, seasonal and sustainable offerings in his dishes, Chef McGreevy is committed to forging strong relationships with local farmers and producers. His fervor and dedication will continue the vision Jonathan set out to achieve at Starbelly. With a deep appreciation of the legacy Jonathan left behind, Chef McGreevy is ready to take the reins and reinforce why Starbelly is a top player in Calgary’s culinary scene. Under the new leadership of Derek Milhalik, General Manager, and Danielle Kondruk, Sales and Events Manager, Starbelly will continue to deliver exceptional food and wine offerings in a community environment.

Starbelly’s new menu features old favourites and new dishes, including a sustainable Pacific Ling Cod, baked with a clam, bacon and tomato broth served alongside a crisp polenta; a kale salad tossed with Alberta chicken, toasted pumpkin seeds, Fairwinds Farm feta, dried figs and roasted apple dressing; and steelhead trout tartare with togarashi pickled cucumber and quinoa crackers. The new menu will provide guests with an elevated everyday experience in a warm and ambient setting.
