Yoga, My Slow Cooker and All that Jazz

2015 is already on course to fly by. It feels like it was just Christmas (maybe because my tree is STILL UP) and yet it is January 16th! Eep!

Things around here are a bit crazy. We have a family member who has been ill and it has left us feeling sad and vulnerable. However, I find it so amazing to see our family come together and show someone how much they are loved. It is something that we all (or at least I) forget to do in normal life. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we let the people around us know we care every day instead of just when something bad happens? As part of my goal to focus on my one word, Live, this year, I am trying to do that more. Because sometimes living means taking time out of our own plans to take care of and love others.

On a happier note, I am excited to report that I am on my 16th day of my 30 Day Yoga Challenge. I am pretty sure that I’ve never stuck with anything exercise related this long. I feel so alive doing yoga and I can’t believe it took me this long to give it a good, honest try. I am not attending a class every day (because that would NOT happen) but I am doing the #30DaysofYoga Challenge on the Yoga with Adrienne YouTube channel. She is funny and I love that I can fit it in to my day whenever works for me. I also think it has an amazing affect on my anxiety. Even when things are tough I don’t find myself giving in to freaking out as much as I did in the past. Definitely a WIN!

So what does my crockpot have to do with all this?

Well, you may remember that I mentioned that I’ve been writing for Huffington Post a bit as a blogger. It’s a fun, non-paying gig that gives me another place to write if I want. Lately I’ve been doing lots of recipe round up posts that feature my recipes and the recipes of my friends. Sometimes they get big traffic and sometimes they get none. Overall it isn’t too much work so I like it (plus it acts a bit like a recipe binder for me to keep my favorite recipes). In early January, I decided to write a post with 28 Family Friendly Crockpot Dinners. Who knew that so many people LOVED their crockpots! It sent over 40k people to my blog in two days. For me that is HUGE and a tad bit crazy. Since I’m doing roundups over there, you may not see them as often here so definitely head over to my Huff Po Blog page to see what I’ve been up to.

That’s a bit of what has been going on in my world. How is 2015 treating you so far?
