Do you have any Seuss fans in your home? These Dr. Seuss Hat Treats made with marshmallow are so cute! Looking like the classic red and white striped Cat in the Hat’s hat, they’re a fun treat for kids of all ages.
This is an ideal snack to serve for Dr. Seuss Day. With only 3 ingredients, it’s a quick and easy treat to make. With some supervision (the candy melts will be hot coming out of the microwave), the kids could even create their own delicious snacks.
Dr. Seuss Hat Treats
Yield = 6 if using the jumbo marshmallows or 12 if using the large marshmallows
Equipment Needed
Parchment Paper
Small Microwave safe bowl
Ingredients
1 cup of red candy melts
12 large or 6 jumbo marshmallows
12 Oreos or chocolate sandwich cookies if using large marshmallows and 6 if using the jumbo ones. Check notes below for more information.
Instructions
Melt the red candy melts in your microwave according to package directions.
Dip one end of the marshmallow into the chocolate creating a stripe of red.
Place the marshmallow with the non-chocolate coated end on parchment paper and let air dry 10-15 minutes.
Once the first end is hardened, dip the other side in the red candy melts
Place wet chocolate-coated side directly onto the chocolate sandwich cookie.
Allow to dry/harden completely.
Notes
Attempting to dip both sides of chocolate at the same time, worked but was far messier than allowing the candy coating to dry on one end first.
Attempting to dip and allow it to dry on the chocolate cookie, then flipping it over to coat the top of the “hat” was also not a great success.
While jumbo marshmallows will fit on the top of the chocolate sandwich cookie, the large marshmallows resemble more of a hat.
