What Ingredients Do I Need to Make Pesto Pasta with Tuna?
Be sure to gather the following ingredients to make your Tuna Pesto Pasta. Below you’ll find a quick list, but as you scroll through the blog post, you’ll find our recipe card with the measurement and preparation details:
- Spaghetti
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Butter
- Tuna in oil
- Canned mushrooms

Can I Use Tuna in Water?
Since you’ll be draining the liquid from the tuna, then using canned tuna in water would be suitable for this recipe. However, I do highly recommend using tuna in oil for flavor purposes – it really does add that special kick to this recipe.
How Do I Store Leftovers?
If you’ve found yourself with leftovers, store it in an airtight food container – be sure it’s completely cool before refrigerating.
It can stay in the fridge for 3 to 5 days. Reheat on a stove top and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of water to loosen it up.

How to Make Tuna Pesto Pasta
Start with the pasta: boil pasta according to package’s directions. Once cooked, strain completely and set aside.
Place a large skillet on your stovetop and heat your oil and butter over medium.
Next, drain the tuna from its oil and add to your heated skillet. Cook for about 2 to 3 minutes.
Once cooked for 2 to 3 minutes, add the mushrooms, pesto and salt and pepper.

Slowly add the cooked pasta and fold until all pasta is well-coated with your pesto mixture. Next, fold in ¼ cup parmesan cheese
Serve on individual plates and sprinkle with more parmesan, if desired
